Powder

The powder today was... simply... amazing! Over 30" in the past 3 days, 15" in the last 24 hours, and it was POWDER, not heavy March slop, but powski pow powder! Totally sweet! I think I should maybe just hang up the skis now and not go at all next week, it just won't even hold a candle.

PS With that 15", Big Mountain passed their all-time annual snowfall record. Snowfall for this year currently sits at 421" at the summit.

What's been going on, part 1

What’s been going on

Hello everyone! So it has been a while since I have posted anything on here. My apologies. There has been a load of stuff going on in my life over the past several weeks/months, much of it mundane and just plain everyday stuff, but some of it has been quite interesting. I’ve been working a lot (bleh), but making money (nectar). Actually, not holding on to much of it as tuition costs mucho $$, but I have that all taken care of now, so that is a huge praise! It is awesome to have that off of my back.

Class has been really good for the past couple of weeks. I have been learning loads, and getting good grades, so that’s all good. What has God been teaching me through it? Well, it is really hard to narrow I down to just one thing. I feel like I’m more like an entire war than just one battle at the moment. I am doing combat on many fronts, and gaining ground on just about all of them I think. One of the coolest things that God has been doing is just showing me that he is, in fact, guiding me, and that he has a plan for my life and is implementing it. I just need to follow his leading, and take it all one step at a time. I wish that I could see further down the trail than I can at the moment, but I believe that God is showing me just enough of the plan to get me through and for me to grow in him, but I would personally like to have more. For instance, if you remember that application that I was working on, that was for a Christian camp in Colorado called ID-RA-HA-JE (I’d rather have Jesus). It looks like a pretty sweet camp, and I am going to be working with one branch of that camp specifically, called Narrow Way Expeditions. An explanation of the position reads: ADVENTURE STAFF: (19 or older) Responsible for leading junior high and high school groups in climbing, rappelling, and ropes courses at resident camps and other adventure activities during wilderness trips. Prefer experience in backpacking, climbing, rappelling, belaying, and mountain biking. “ So, I’m getting pretty excited for the summer! I can’t wait for the outdoors experience, and the opportunity to try to model Christ for all of the kids I will be working with.

So yeah, I prayed a lot about this whole summer deal, and one night at work, the day that the director dude was supposed to call me, I was like, “God, do something definitive tonight! Either this job, or this relationship, or something!” Well, he gave me a definite “yes” on that job tonight, and I ended up getting a definite answer on the relationship deal, too. So God is good, he watches over us and directs our paths if we are willing to wait on him. But the waiting is the hard part.

50th day

I have officially hit 50 days of in one season for the first time ever! Right on!

Just for the record

Just for the record, I would like it noted that I am in love with the sport of downhill skiing. I skied all day Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (it's spring vacation), and we got powder Monday, Monday night, and Tuesday night. Needless to say, the skiing all three of those days was fantastic! I think I'm in love with this sport. I'm going to make a living at it... some way, some how.
