God's Ways

God's ways are so hard to understand, and it is so hard to see how he is working when you are down in the specific situation. same thing definitely goes for me, i can't see what God is doing, and i start to despair all of the time. but i know that in a year, when i look back on today, i'll marvel at the ways that God has provided for me, and everything he has done to take care of me inspite of myself. but again, i suck at remembering all of that when stuff gets me down (like being really stinking sick).

Later people.

Update on the sickness

So I've been sick for exactly 2 weeks now. Just went to the doctor yesterday, and he said that I have a throat infection, and prescribed a bunch of drugs and stuff. They did draw my blood to test and make sure I don't have anything else. I'm feeling better today, my sinuses feel like they are clearing up, but I still feel feverish. Hopefully by the end of the day I will have kicked that. Pray for me.

Penitente: My first day climbing

These are all from my first day ever rock climbing (during Adventure Staff Training), over a year ago. I've improved so much since then, it's crazy!

New Tires

So I did end up getting4 new tires like I needed to this past Monday. They were expensive. Cars are expensive. Don't get one.... just ride your bike.

Black Widow!

Black Widow
Super freaky black widow that I found in Summer's wheel AS I WAS PUTTING IT ON!! I WAS FREAKING OUT!! That was not a fun day... I have developed a hatred for spiders over the past month or two since that day. Spiders are evil.

120+ ft whipper!!

Check out this INTENSE whipper this guy takes while trying to get a first ascent on this 5.14 crack on trad gear. The description says the fall is about 40m, which is over 120 FEET! THAT'S INSANE!

Trip Report: Sunday

So while Saturday evening was amazing, it went somewhat downhill from there: it thundered and lightninged and rained like crazy all night Saturday night, and well into Sunday morning. Our packs and tents were pretty much soaked through, and there was no way were going to get to climb. So that was a little disappointing, all that driving for ONLY 2 ROUTES.... but all in all we had a blast, and it was an awesome trip!

Photobucket
Here is a janky tunnel under a railroad that we drove through on our way back as we were trying to find these really cool cliffs that we saw acrost (with a t) the lake from the interstate.

At over 500 pages, there is A LOT of rock to climb in Tennessee!

Trip report: Saturday Evening

We had a blast Saturday evening! Ran into town to pick up stuff to roast over the campfire... made smores and cheddarwursts and mm were they good! Met some climbers from Florida during the day, and they joined us around the campfire that night, and we all got to talk and have a good time... it was classic!

trip report: so we did end up going! I'm feeling a bit better. I finished 2 climbs today and attempted several others. It'@s been a good day! @

Sweet, sweet singletrack!

Crazy turn! Way too exposed and intense for me to try it. I could probably do it, but the consequences of messing up were too great.

Why do I have to get sick right before I have a break? Why???

So tomorrow Summer and I were planning on going rock climbing in Tennessee with some friends. I've been getting super pumped up about it, but guess what?? I'm feeling FREAKING CRAPPY with a fever and stuff right now. Its miserable! We were planning on going to Foster Falls which looks really, really cool. It was going to be an amazing experience! Well, it still may be. I'm probably going to go anyway. I can't pass up an opportunity like that! It's not every day (or every year, for that matter) that you get to climb really awesome rock in Eastern Tennessee. Stink!!! Crappiness. I just want to feel better already!

Here's a pic of some of the sweet looking rock just begging to be climbed!

Prayer and Importunity

Quotations from The Necesity of Prayer by E.M. Bounds:

"Nothing distinguishes the child of God so clearly and strongly as prayer. It is the one infallible mark of being a Christian."
