I would rather write blog posts than my philosophy midterm
Well it is quite true: I would rather write blog posts than my philosophy midterm. I have a 7 page paper that I should be writing for philosophy class, but I'm procrastinating. My mind is consumed with trying to overcome the formidable obstacles between no-name blogger and famous professional blogger. It is going to be a long, long journey my friends. Why I can't get it out of my head, I don't know. Maybe that's just the way I am.
Writing about yourself and what you think, what you feel, what experiences you've had, and what your opinions are is SO much easier than trying to draft a 7 page research-oriented quotation-laden paper about a myriad of philisophical topics that aren't much more than abstract thoughts pinballing around inside my head.
That and I'm good at procrastinating.
But procrastination is the last thing I need to be doing, because with this new job and all, I have so little time to work with that it's not even funny. The least I could be doing is reading some of my philosophy book in order to get a better grip on everything that's going on, and to catch up on all the reading that I missed.
Dang midterm paper.
Why couldn't we just have a test? Although I suppose having a take-home paper should be easier, the simple magnitude required from us is staggering.
Oh well, I should get back down on it. Later.
PS read my main blog at http://gregridestrails.blogspot.com/

A call to post trails
Originally posted here as a call to other Singletracks members to post their local trails and to continue making Singletracks.com the best mountain bike site on the internet.
So this is a post I've been meaning to write for a while. But basically, if you've ridden trails that aren't up here on Singletracks, you should post them up so everyone can know about them!
Of the half dozen or so guidebooks that I own, each of them includes trails that aren't posted here on singletracks. I've done my fair share, and every trail I've ever ridden is up here on the website for all to see. But there are so many out there that need to be added!
Near where I was living in Montana, I know there are a dozen or so awesome trails that I didn't get a chance to ride that needed to be added. There are so many more all over that state that need to be on here!
I was reading the latest issue of Bike Mag, and they were talking about the hundreds of awesome trails up in BC. We have less than 25 trails from BC listed here on Singletracks.
So let's keep on making this the best mountain bike site on the internet! And post those trails!

Currently Reading: "How to Stay Christian in College"
How to Stay Christian in CollegeThis is proving to be a very concise, yet accurate and effective book for laying out many things that current day christian college students should be aware of.
I've heard much of the information before, but some of it is new. This guy (who has a really long last name) writes well, but with a very laid back, conversational style.
Finished Reading: "His Needs, Her Needs."
His Needs, Her Needs: Building an Affair Proof Marriage by Willard F. Harley, Jr.This was an incredibly insightful book! It put words to many things that I have been feeling, but couldn't explain, and brought to light many things that I had simply never thought about before. Hopefully, in 30 days when I FINALLY get married to my love, Summer, it will help me to love and serve her as best as I possibly can!

Nothing says "closed road" like a 3 foot tall pile of rubble
At the bottom of the road.
Looking back down from where I came from.
In the end, I was able to reach the Currahee Mountain road from the Cornelia side, and enjoyed an intense slog up the USFS road, and a sweet bomb back down.
Here's the short write up I did on the Curahee Mountain road on Singletracks... more photos from that ride to come.

Finished Reading: "In the Name of Jesus"

In the Name of Jesus (Reflections on Christian Leadership) by Henri J.M. Nouwen.
I got this from Rob S. at the end of my youth ministry internship in Montana (and I actually didn't just read it now, I read it a couple of months ago), and it was very insightful.
3 things to do:
-Contemplative prayer
-Confession and forgiveness
-Theological reflection

Radar Map
I was looking to see if it was going to be cloudy all day... and yeah, the answer looks like it's going to be "yes!"
But we're not supposed to get any significant rain all morning, so should still be an ok day for my first day back on the bike in 3 weeks!
